Mr Imran Khwaja heads the firm’s family law department.

Mr Khwaja is highly recommended for family law by numerous publications and his peers in the industry. He is a specialist mediator on the Singapore International Mediation Centre’s panel of specialist mediators, has been appointed as a child representative by the Family Justice Courts and has also served as an appointed amicus curiae by the High Court and the Family Justice Courts. He has appeared at various levels of Court including the Court of Appeal for family law matters and is thus able to provide advice and appear on behalf of clients who face matters of varying complexity.

  • AZZ v BAA [2016] SGHC 44 – Acted for the defendant in the divorce and ancillary matters hearing involving custody, maintenance and division of matrimonial assets with a pool amounting to approximately S$16.6 million

  • AYQ v AYR and another matter [2012] SGCA 66 – Acted for the respondent in defending the appellant’s appeal involving division of matrimonial assets and maintenance for the wife and children

  • VGY v VGZ [2020] SGHCF 6 – Successfully acted for the respondent in defending the appeal involving the striking out of parts of the appellant’s Affidavit of Assets and Means

  • Yeo Chong Lin v Tay Ang Choo Nancy and another appeal [2011] SGCA 8; Tay Ang Choo Nancy v Yeo Chong Lin and another (Yeo Holdings Pte Ltd, miscellaneous party) [2010] SGHC 126 – Acted for the wife in a High Court and two related appeals in the Court of Appeal involving the division of matrimonial assets of a matrimonial pool of approximately S$62.7 million

  • Aberdeen Asset Management Asia Ltd and another v Fraser & Neave Ltd and others [2001] SGCA 65 – Acted for Aberdeen Asset Management Asia Ltd and Hugh Young in a defamation suit successfully seeking an application for extension of time to file a notice of appeal

  • Acting for the government of Malaysia to recover funds belonging to 1Malaysia Development Berhad as reported by The Straits Times on 18 July 2018 titled “Malaysia appoints Singapore law firm to institute legal action against 53 individuals and companies in 1MDB case” (Link)

  • Acted for the victim’s family in a negligence suit against National Parks Board for its negligence which led to the collapse of the Tembusu tree and death of the victim as reported by Channel News Asia on 31 March 2020 updated on 4 February 2021 titled “Husband of woman killed by falling tree in Botanic Gardens sues NParks” (Link)
